Green living: Kraken

Release the Kraken! Giant Squid Caught on Video

Real life; we know, is often stranger than fiction, but the confirmation that the giant squid is both awesome and terrifying came with this incredible video caught recently off the Japanese coast. Giant squid live at great depths and have been notoriously elusive. This denizen of the deep was capture by a team of scientists. Marine biologist Edie Widder had this to say: “All of us were so amazed at what it looked like. It looked carved out of metal. And it would change from being silver to gold. It was just breathtaking.”

This squid is 9 feet long, but they can grow up to 46 feet (gulp!) The only thing big enough to eat giant squid are sperm whales and even these have to watch their backs.
