Mabon fall equinox

4 Ways to Celebrate The Fall Solstice (Mabon)

On September 22nd, we celebrate the change in the season and say goodbye to the summer. This is no cause for concern because fall is full of its own joys; spooky season, fewer bugs, glorious colours and sweater weather!

If you want to celebrate this wonderful time of the year, here’s how!

It’s Harvest Festival!

Harvest time means celebrating abundance by sharing with your friends and neighbours. Plan a feast or invite your friends for dinner and the first fire of the fall.

Take a trip to the farmer’s market and pick up fruits and vegetables for pickling, preserving and JAMS!

Express gratitude through sharing. Share cuttings, bulbs and other plants from your garden or by gift your veggies and fruit to friends and family. Donate to the Food Bank or to a cause that is close to your heart.

Nesting

Like the animals, you should be lining your nest for the coming winter. Clear out the clutter and give your home a good clean. Then decorate to make your living space cozy.

Invest in books, puzzles and games to see you through the long nights. Add some special treats to the pantry and stock up the wine cabinet!

Get Creative

Start some new projects that will help you look forward to spending more time inside. These can include art projects, crafts and renovations or work on learning a new skill.

Let the Light In

Part of the pagan ritual for this time of year is bringing the light into your home through lighting candles. It’s a good time to add some new lamps, twinkle lights or night lights to your space.

Bonfires are a must! Invite friends and family to sit around the fire, tell stories and make s’mores (naturally!)
