How to Recycle EVERYTHING

Safely dispose of everything from oil filters to pesticides

If you live in the province of Ontario and have items that shouldn’t end up in the landfill, you now have a place to safely dispose of them for FREE! If you have items that require special handling (think oils, paint, batteries etc.) then you have already paid for their safe disposal with the Orange Drop program. Some products are recycled while others are safely disposed of rather than ending up in the landfill where they leach dangerous chemicals.

When in doubt, don’t throw it out

Orange Drop provides you with a number of drop off points that accept the following products:

  • Paints
  • Solvents
  • Single-use batteries
  • Pressurized cylinders (like gas bottles)
  • Fertilizers and pesticides
  • Antifreeze/Coolant
  • Empty oil containers
  • Oil filters

You can see a comprehensive list of Orange Drop items here.

There are Orange Drop depots, collection events and some retail and automotive locations that accept Orange Drop Items. A large number of Ontario parks accept non-refillable pressurized containers.

The Orange Drop is funded by industry through the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program. Here the companies that produce potentially hazardous products pay for their safe disposal under the Orange Drop program.
