Sure you know that a every serving of leafy greens is packed with vitamins, folate, fistfuls of minerals and only 7 calories! But for me, grazing through all that foliage just isn’t sustainable on a daily basis. Then along came the green smoothie. Oh little glass of goopy green gunk – are you the answer to my leafy green conundrum?
Leafy vegetables include the following: spinach, Swiss chard, collard greens, kale, arugula, lettuce, dandelion greens and beat greens. But beware the unplanned green smoothie! While I started out by tossing in ingredients with wild abandon, I soon found that green smoothies can be tricky to make. An unfortunate combination with blue berries resulted in a poo-brown number that, despite not tasting too bad, just didn’t go down well. To save you from a similar fate, here are some green smoothie recipes that taste amazing and pack a nutritional punch.
Lean Green Machine Smoothie
1/4 bunch dandelion greens
1 stalk celery
¼ inch fresh ginger root
1 peach
¼ pineapple

Smoothie Operator
½ bunch fresh parsley
½ cucumber
½ peeled apple
½ ripe banana
1 cup water
It’s easy being green smoothie
1 cup red seedless grapes
½ cup kale
½ pear chopped
2 tbsp. avocado
½ cup coconut water
Loch Ness Monster Mash Smoothie
1 frozen banana
2 to 3 big fat handfuls of spinach
2 tbsp. peanut butter
2 tbsp. cocoa powder
1 cup milk (almond, soy or regular)
