Green Living How To
Amazing ‘Croc Pots’ make for a funky garden display. Upcycle your old Crocs and save them from the landfill. The durable, weather-resistant materials from which Crocs are made make for perfect planters. Use any size Crocs and fill with soil and your favorite flowering plants or herbs.
What you need:
- Old Crocs
- Potting Soil
- Plants or seeds
- Mesh (optional)
If you are using children’s Crocs, the holes are small enough and you can just put the soil right in. With adult Crocs, the holes are too big and the soil will come out over time. For adult Crocs, line the inside of the shoe with a plastic mesh bag that you get your veggies in, or use the lining from a hanging basket. This will help to keep the soil in place.
Fill your Croc with soil and plant your small flower, herb or seeds. Voila! You have made your very own Croc pot.
Secure to wooden fences with a nail though the heel of the shoe. If you wish to hang your Croc pot from the fence, use the back shoe strap. Tie this to the fence or balcony rail with string, wire, cable ties or use an old ‘S’ hook from a shower curtain.
