Make your Jack-O-Lantern Last!

It’s time to start carving, but you want your pumpkin pals to go the distance. Here’s a couple of tips on how to prevent bacteria and decay.

  1. Wash the pumpkin well before cutting.
  2. Get as much of the inside stringy bits and seeds out as you can so bacteria has fewer places to grow.
  3. Carve the pumpkin, then rinse the inside and cut edges with a 2:1 water and bleach solution or a solution of tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract to prevent decay.
  4. Rub the cut edges with oil.

You’re ready to grace your front porch with a pumpkin that will last! Happy Halloween!
